October 2023

Hi, I'm Bernhard.

Heyvento wasn't supposed to be anything more than a little project. It started with my wife, a wedding to plan, and a very specific idea of what she wanted for guest messages.

Something better than a paper guestbook. Something with people's actual voices in it, and their faces, without renting a phone or a photo booth. What she found instead: too expensive, sold out, or services with one feature but not the other.

Being a software developer, I said what every developer says right before a project eats up all their evenings: “I can build a small quick version of that.”

On the day, there was a little frame on the table. Scan the code. Snap a selfie. Leave us a message. That was the whole instruction.

The next morning we sat on the porch of the guesthouse, a newly married couple, coffees in hand, and went through all the messages. What an absolutely amazing experience.

Then friends started asking to use it as well.

And they used it for things I never planned for. Birthdays, travel logs, races, adventures. It turns out the moments people want to keep aren't only weddings.

That's what Heyvento is for: the people around you, in their own words, on the day it happened.

Heyvento became more than a simple project, and personally I feel honored that so many people have chosen to make it a part of such big moments in their lives.
